Accuracy is central to our work, and correcting the record promptly matters more to us than avoiding scrutiny. This policy explains how we handle corrections and clarifications.
If you believe something we have published is inaccurate or misleading, contact us through the Contact page. It helps to include the article headline, the page address and a brief account of what you believe is wrong, together with any supporting evidence.
We review and, where warranted, correct factual errors, misidentifications, inaccurate figures, missing or misleading context and significant omissions. We weigh every request on its merits, regardless of who raises it.
When a correction is warranted, we update the article or page as soon as we reasonably can. For significant changes that affect the meaning or substance of a piece, we add a clearly worded note explaining what was changed and when, so the record stays transparent.
Typographical errors, formatting fixes, broken links and small clarity edits that do not change the meaning of a piece may be corrected without a formal note.
Fast-moving stories are updated as new information is confirmed. Where an update materially changes an earlier version, we make that clear rather than quietly overwriting what was first reported.
We aim to review correction requests as quickly as is practical. The time required can vary with the complexity of the issue, but every genuine request receives attention.
