Editorial Policy

Speedway Scene stands for accurate, independent journalism that matters. This policy spells out the standards our reporters and editors answer to, and the promises our readers are entitled to hold us to.

Accuracy and verification

Getting it right comes first. We check facts before we publish, chase primary sources and corroboration whenever we can, and keep a clear line between what is confirmed, what others are reporting and what is our own analysis. We refuse to claim more than we know, and we revise stories as the facts move.

Independence

What we choose to cover answers to the public interest and to our readers. It is never steered by advertisers, commercial partners, political allegiance or the private interests of our staff, and we take no payment in exchange for coverage.

Sourcing and attribution

We name our sources wherever we can, link to the primary material and give readers enough context to judge a claim for themselves. We extend anonymity only when the information serves the public interest, cannot be told any other way, and an editor has signed off on it. We do not pay sources for information.

News, analysis and opinion

We hold a firm line between plain reporting and commentary. Analysis and opinion wear that label openly, so readers always know which one is in front of them. Opinion writers may press an argument, but the same duty to be accurate and fair still binds them.

Fairness

We give the people and organizations we report on a real chance to answer significant claims about them, and we set out opposing views in good faith. Where a subject is sensitive, we handle it with care for everyone caught up in it.

Conflicts of interest

Reporters and editors must steer clear of any conflict that could taint our coverage, and must disclose relevant financial holdings, relationships or affiliations. When a conflict cannot be sidestepped, we disclose it to readers.

Use of artificial intelligence

We are open about how our journalism is made. Speedway Scene uses artificial intelligence tools across the newsroom workflow, from scanning global coverage to preparing drafts. Every story is checked against the named sources it cites before publication, attribution is mandatory, and editorial direction, standards and accountability rest with people. If a story falls short of this policy, we correct it openly, whatever tool helped produce it.
